Biography
Robert W. Kurkela is the youngest in a family of five boys. Upon his birth, his father sent a telegram to Robert’s grandparents, who were vacationing in Europe, It stated: “the basketball team is complete.” Though he does have a zealous passion for the New York Yankees, Robert never pursued an athletic career. Instead, his Little League days gave way to a love of words.
Robert started writing poetry as a teenager. He lives in New York State with his wife, Lisa, and daughters, Cassidy and Rachel. His first book, Lilies on the Moon, is a loving tribute to his mom. He also published We Can Make It Happen! about the extraordinary life of his friend, David Taubenfeld, whose legend continues to grow since his death from a brain tumor in 2005.
In the summer Robert is the Head of Nature at Deerkill Day Camp in Suffern, NY. Robert contributes a portion of his book sales to charitable organizations as well as donating supplies, services and time to worthwhile causes.
